Insomnia, et al...

Can't sleep...

For my faithful readers that check this blog five, six times a day to see if I've updated the sensational chronicles of my life, sorry for the lengthy absence; my girlfriend and I have been part of a prolonged house move that have all but plundered my creative juices.

To the other 100% of the human population, chances are you've already eaten a turkey dinner and maybe even opened some Christmas presents by the time you read this.  85% of you have already been punched for not wearing green and are trying to get back in shape for summer.

Anyhow, the Vision Shift reception and exhibition went really well.  I learned a lot about climate change and my carbon footprint (ex. did you know that starting your car engine cold emits five times more pollution than if your car is already warmed up?  They say to try and run your errands at once to avoid warming your car up as frequently).  The people behind Vision Shift seem to have some pretty cool stuff up their sleeves going forward.

The Modern Man piece that was featured in the paper sold.  It was a limited edition (#3/50) print on canvas (contact me if you're interested in owning one).  It went to a very good place and I'm happy about that whole situation.

Ok, I'm going to give sleep another try.

By The Way, Ma...

So yeah, um, Friday night bore a second dose of great news in a week.  I attended an opening event for Vision Shift at the Center for Contemporary Arts and finally met Mariel Nanasi, among others involved in the project, for the first time.  We greeted and hugged and she inquired whether or not I'd seen the article last week.  Of course I did. Then she dropped the shiny bombshell that Modern Man would ALSO be in the Santa Fe edition of the Albuquerque Journal, which has a readership of 300,000, the following day. I might have squealed like a small child or teenage girl who just got asked to the prom, gave her a big hug, and spent much of the next day pillaging local newspaper vending machines. Thank you again Mariel!

Look Ma! I'm In The Paper!!!

Hello all. I'm finally getting around to learning this HTML mumbo jumbo. I originally tried putting the blog directly on my site but figured it would be much easier on your eyes and more user friendly if I hosted it on one of these blogging sites. I did take my first one-off web design class two weeks ago but only just got ahold of Dreamweaver; I'm taking my second class tomorrow- Advanced Web Design thank you very much so I should be making [semi?] regular updates going forward.

Anyhow, this newfound web knowledge came at a perfect time, because this morning I awoke to some great news: my mixed media piece, "Modern Man", was featured on the front page of the Local News section in the Santa Fe New Mexican:

(Or see full article here)

I gave Mariel Nanasi, one of the great minds behind "Vision Shift! Art in the Age of Climate Change," some artwork for promotional uses a few months ago and hadn't heard much; she said she was "working on a press release" but I didn't know she had this up her sleeve. Thank you Mariel!
